When mountain-like problems arise and situations seem utterly hopeless, where do we find our footing? The foundation of our hope is rooted in a powerful, prophetic promise found in the book of Isaiah:
“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love (grace) for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed, says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” — Isaiah 54:10
Even in our most turbulent seasons, God guarantees two things: His grace and His covenant of peace will never depart from us. Here is what that means for our daily walk.
1. “My Grace Shall Not Depart from You”
To truly understand God’s enduring grace, we can look at the contrasting lives of two biblical kings: Saul and David.

The Danger of Pride (Saul’s Fall): God anointed Saul when he was just an ordinary man looking for donkeys. However, once elevated to power, Saul became proud. He set up a monument in his own honor and became presumptuous, disobeying God’s direct commands and taking on duties that were not his to perform. Because he lacked obedience and let his position make him arrogant, God’s grace departed from him and his lineage.

The Power of Humility (David’s Grace): David was not perfect; he committed severe sins and transgressions. However, the difference was in the posture of his heart. When his mistakes were pointed out, David immediately repented and fell before God. He didn’t boast about his victories over giants; instead, he declared God’s power to the next generation (Psalm 71:17-18). Because of his humility, God promised David that His grace would never be taken away. From this humble lineage, Jesus Christ was born, establishing an eternal throne.
The Lesson: We must never let our earthly positions—whether as a high-ranking official, a corporate leader, or the head of a family—make us proud or cause fear in others. We are called to remain humble and obedient. When we stay in the center of God’s will, His grace will surround and elevate us.
2. “My Covenant of Peace Shall Not Be Removed”
The second part of Isaiah’s promise focuses on a profound, everlasting peace. In Ezekiel 37:26, God promises to make a covenant of peace and set His sanctuary among His people forever.
God places immense trust in us. Think about how we alter our behavior—our words, our clothes, the state of our home—when a highly respected guest visits. We must live with that same constant awareness that the Holy Spirit dwells within us. When we avoid murmuring, jealousy, and anger, God establishes His sanctuary in our lives.
When God’s sanctuary is within you, He actively fights your battles and brings peace to your chaos:

God Defends You Behind the Scenes: Consider the story of Jacob and Laban (Genesis 31:24). Jacob was running away with his family and wealth, full of fear and anxiety about his future. But the night before Laban could reach him to cause harm, God appeared to Laban in a dream and strictly warned him, “Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.”

The Heavenly Battle: You might be weeping today, trying to use your own strength, money, or connections to fight a battle that hasn’t moved for years. But God is fighting for you in the heavenly realms. Just as He stopped Laban and prevented enemies from cursing Israel, God will command your obstacles to be at peace with you.
A Promise for You
No matter what plots are formed against you or what mountains are shaking in your life right now, God can intercept your enemies and command peace over your circumstances.
Hold onto the words of Jesus in John 14:27:
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.”
Step forward today knowing that His grace is unshakable and His covenant of peace is yours forever.
