Verse: There they praised the Lord. That’s why it’s called the Valley of Beracah to this very day. 2 Chro 20:26

Thought:

Beracah is a valley was named the “Valley of Blessings (“blessing” is “Berakhah” in Hebrew) by Jehoshaphat after his victory over Moab and Ammon. When we pass through valley of battle, will it become valley of Berach.

Story: Jehoshaphat gathered his people together and prayed to God for deliverance. God answered his prayer by stirring up the enemy to kill each other. When Jehoshaphat and his army entered the valley the enemy had completely destroyed themselves. The army took three days to collect the valuables of the enemy including gold, silver, and precious jewels. Hence the valley was called “The Valley of Blessing”.

Attack: the Moabites, Ammonites and some Meunites went to war against Jehoshaphat. Some people came and told him, “A huge army is coming from Edom to fight against you. 2 Chro 20:1,2 Yes we will also be attacked by the enemy.

Reaction: Jehoshaphat was alarmed. So he decided to ask the Lord for advice. He told all of the people of Judah to go without eating. The people came together to ask the Lord for help. 2 Chro 20:3,4 Our reaction to fear should be seeking the face of the Lord with pray and fasting. When we go to God’s presence with fear, it will change to an attitude of praise even before the actual victory. Jehoshaphat asked the people for advice. Then he appointed men to sing to the Lord. He wanted them to praise him because of his glory and holiness. 2 Chro 20:21

Result: The men of Judah came to the place that looks out over the desert. They turned to look down at the huge army. But all they saw was dead bodies lying there on the ground. No one had escaped. 2 Chro 20:24 When we run to the Lord pray, fast and praise, valley of battle will become valley of Berach.

Prayer: Lord, teach me pray, enable me to fast as per the word, anoint me to praise you. I believe all my valleys will become valley of Blessing. Amen.
