Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7

Ruth 1

Story: In the days when the judges ruled, there was a famine in the land. So a man from Bethlehem in Judah , together with his wife and two sons, went to live for a while in the country of Moab. The man’s name was Elimelek, his wife’s name was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Kilion.

Now Elimelek, Naomi’s husband, died, and she was left with her two sons. They married Moabite women. After they had lived there about ten years, both Mahlon and Kilionalso died, and Naomi was left without her two sons and her husband. When Naomi went back to Judah after famine but one of the daughter, Ruth clung on to her.

Lesson: When famine was there in God’s promised land, a small family ran to forbidden place and disaster followed. When we face tough times, do we try to run away or do we stay where we are and trust in the Lord.

Do we give up, easily without asking the counsel of God. Have we learned to trust on the Lord for deliverance even when we see no way out? We know Ruth although did not see a hope she held on to Naomi, and ended up being the great grand mother of King David. Do we easily give up?

Prayer: Father Lord, help me to be a man of faith and a man of prayer and trust you in tough times. Amen.
