Everyone strives for greater prosperity, peace, blessing, and victory, and no one would claim that they don’t want these things. But one lesson we must learn is that even though we adore all of these things, God still needs to raise us since they should all come from Him.

God gave Moses and Joshua growth and elevation. as it is written in Joshua 4:14 That day, the LORD exalted Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they stood in awe of him all the days of his life, just as they had stood in awe of Moses. On the other hand, in 1 Peter 5:6-7 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. God has demonstrated what one should do in an effort to progress and succeed in this passage. Therefore, prosperity will come from God if we follow his instructions, show him how much we fear him, and seek his protection.

God will only bless us when we surrender and submit to him, at which point our lives will flourish and prosper. In Joshua 5:13-15 it is written that Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, “What message does my Lord have for his servant?”  Only after this occurred did God begin to show him growth and success.

Purity comes before wit. God wants us to be holy before we can achieve prosperity and victory. God wants us to pursue righteousness and truth, which is what he loves. Joshua 7:11-13 Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenant, which I commanded them to keep. They have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen, they have lied, and they have put them with their own possessions. 12 That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies; they turn their backs and run because they have been made liable to destruction. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy whatever among you is devoted to destruction. Doing activities that God loves is crucial in our daily lives. And not to forget that always, holiness precedes triumph and victory.

Many people make assumptions or preconceived notions about various plans, but occasionally they don’t occur. Along with this, it can also result in vulnerabilities. When Israel was preparing to battle Ai city. The Israelites believed it to be a minor city that wouldn’t require a large army to take down, but when they went to battle, they fled after failing. It’s possible for assumptions to go wrong. We shouldn’t forecast the future, the future of the family,  or the future of the kids. However, we must never lose sight of the fact that, as was already stated, God must be our shelter and that it is only through him that we will succeed.

All strategies and plans must originate from the Lord for us. We must first approach God compassionately and ask for guidance rather than making assumptions and predictions. As it is written in Psalms 127:1 Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. Even if we give up, God’s plan will always result in a successful and victorious day for everyone.
