Then Jesus said … So you must be careful … Math 23:1-3
One of the strong warnings that Jesus taught His disciples, that they should not be people who preach and do not practice what they preach. Jesus exposed the life’s of Pharisess of that time. Let us examine if we are also in the same pattern like the religious leaders of Jesus time.
But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. Math 23:3 Do we hear the word, after a while do we fall of. Do we go back to our old ways?
They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders Math 23:4a Do we set so many so restrictions and condemn people who are weak. Stop judging others ?
but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them. Math 23:4b Out of love do we correct those who are weak. Help others to grow in the Lord without condemning.
they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; Math 23:6 Are we living in the folly; to get honored among men. If some does not appreciate us, does it upset us?
they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others. Math 23:7 Are we living every day to please others and to be greeted as great. Are we living to prove to others?
Prayer: Lord, forgive us that many times our actions are driven for other people. Lord, make is people who please you and obey you. Oh! That we will practice what we preach. Amen.
