Verse
It happened after this that David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I go up to any of the cities of Judah?” And the Lord said to him, “Go up.” David said, “Where shall I go up?” And He said, “To Hebron.” So David went up there 2 Samuel 2:1
Thought
Saul was killed; David now could easily take over whole of Israel. When the task is easy we just do it and ask the Lord to be with us, but David was different. Lord established his kingdom for ever, even Jesus was known as Son of David, and a king of that order, now Lion of Judah. Why did Lord establish David kigndom forever ?
1. Even for very small things David asked the Lord what to do? ‘David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I go up to any of the cities of Judah’ 2 Sam 2:1. Do we take God’s counsel in very small things in our life
2. He wanted to do only what Lord wanted him to do. Again David asked “Where shall I go up?” And He said, “To Hebron.” 2 Sam 2:1 He could go anywhere as Lord gave permission, but He did not, He wanted to go where Lord wanted him to go.
3. David obeyed with out questioning. So David went up there 2 Sam 2:1. 7.5 years David was the king of Judah only, not of whole Israel, with his power He could easily conquer whole kingdom,. But David did not waited in Hebron till Lord acted. Then he ruled the whole nation for 33 years. Do we wait for the Lord?
Prayer
Lord, give a heart like that of David, so passionate about you. I will live every moment with you. I will step forward only by your counsel. Amen.
