‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
God does everything beyond our thoughts, actions, and intentions. This verse is everybody’s favorite. God says to us to ask Him. Ask- this term is used often in Bible. But the significance here is that it is stated by God Himself.
Mathew 7:7,8, says “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”
Mathew 6:8, says“Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.
One who asks receives everything. When we ask, we will definitely receive it as we ask the creator of all, who is omnipotent and who has given us the spirit of sonship. To whom we ask is that who delivers us and meet out our needs. Hence, we say the name of the Lord when we ask.
Luke 11:2, says “Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.”
The prayer starts with Father in heaven and ends with the name of the Lord Jesus. There is a blessing in this name. Whenever you say the name of the Lord Jesus your needs will be satisfied.
When we ask Him, ask with confidence. Psalm 20:4, “May He grant you according to your heart’s desire, And fulfil all your purpose.”
Hebrews 11:6, says “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
One who asks God, believes that Lord exist and believe that He gives answers to prayer. Your faith should not be inadequate.
Illustration: The Levites carried the ark of the covenant and when they came before the river of Jordan, which was flowing, God said that when their feet touches the water, it shall stand as a heap paving way to pass on the river. (Joshua 3).
Until their feet touched the water, they did not know that the miracle would happen or not. But, God did miracles as He has done in the past to the Israelites. Same way, God has done great things for you in past, hence ask with confidence and faith. He will do great things.
Expect great things from God. The prayer may be for a simple matter. But, ask Him. God does great and mighty things, which you do not know. Even for a simple prayer for protection , God has prepared a protection over us in advance.
Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
No evil shall befall us. Hold onto the promise in Roman 8:32, He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
God can do mighty things.
- Ask God.
- When asked in His name, it shall be done.
- Ask with confidence and faith.
- God has prepared the best before we ask.
- God can do great and mighty things.
