God’s love!

Meditation on John 15:9

“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.

Let us continue to meditate on the love of God. He gave Himself on the cross. Nothing is greater than that. We should realize the intensity of it.

There was a teacher who had a practice of explaining God’s love before starting his class every day. One day when he was about to start to explain God’s love, one of his students stood up and said, “Sir, I’m bored of hearing you explain God’s love again and again. Now that we have heard about it for so many days we know everything about God’s love. You teach us about something else sir.” The teacher gave it a thought and said, “Ok. I will not talk about God’s love anymore but I will give you homework. Work on it and bring it tomorrow. Read Psalm 103 and write down what is written in it and bring it tomorrow.”

I happened to read what the student had written a few days ago. I re-read it yesterday and today. I admired how beautifully he has penned down God’s love metaphorically. The student gave his homework to the teacher and said, “Instead of telling God loves us, tell us that God loves us all the time in all situations no matter what!” Because Psalm 103 explains God’s love so intensely. The student has taken 4 verses from the chapter that explains God’s love.

Psalm 103:8 – The Lord is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.

He is abounding and rich in mercy. God’s mercy is like a sea. It is so deep and wide that nobody can measure it. Just like how the student has identified that God’s love is immeasurable let us also know that his love and mercy are immeasurable.

Psalm 103:11 – For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;

Now, this verse says how high His mercy is. Nobody can measure the distance between the earth and heaven. If parents ask their children how much they love them, they would spread their hands wide and show this much. Some children tell the maximum number they have learned in their school. Recently when I asked my son how much you love me he said 29. Because that’s the highest number he has learned. But if we ask God how much you love me, He will say as the heavens are high above the earth. It is beyond our thoughts and actions. His love is unexplainable.

Psalm 103:13 – As a father pities his children, So the Lord pities those who fear Him.

A father’s love for his son/daughter is always high. He always has a soft corner towards his child. Such is the love of God upon us.

Psalm 103: 17 – But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children.

His love towards you is everlasting and He loves your children also in the same way. You might be worried about your children. But today God is assuring you today that He loves your children, not just today but every day. His love is everlasting towards you, your children, and your generations. If at all your child has chosen the wrong path, do not worry. God will correct him/her through His everlasting love. God’s love will bring your children back to you.

Also, the student has mentioned the definition of God’s love from Psalm 109:2 – Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits. This is the definition of God’s love. This means that the goodness that God has done in your life from the day you were formed in your mother’s womb is uncountable.

The student has also mentioned some of the goodness that we receive because of His love.

  1. Spiritual blessing

He has forgiven all the sins we have done knowingly and unknowingly. He has forgiven, He is forgiving and He will forgive. This is a spiritual blessing in our life.

2.Emotional blessing

Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases. The one whose iniquities are forgiven, his diseases are also healed. God has done this to us.

3. Eternal blessing

He redeems our life from destruction. The day He redeemed our life from destruction is the day our life becomes a belonging to heaven. This is an everlasting blessing.

4. Authoritative blessing

He made us kings and priests on the same day He redeemed us and washed us from all our sins.

5. Physical blessing

He removes all the weakness and medical conditions from our body and renews us with His strength. He helps us to work even more efficiently.

God Loves Us.

We learned that God loves us through various ways from this Psalm. He will definitely do all this goodness in your life as well. You will start seeing it from today. God bless you!
