A Journey To Unity Or Oneness? Learn from Saul-3

A Journey To Unity Or Oneness - Learn from Saul-3 - Morning Devotion 10 July 2022

by Pastor Solomon Kings | Morning Devotion

1 Samuel 11, The chapter began when Nahash, the king of Ammon, approached the troops of Jabesh-Gilead to engage in battle. The Jabesh-Gilead men, however, wanted to create a peace treaty or agreement. But Nahash stated that he would only accept this if he could dishonor all of Israel by gouging out each man’s right eye. Jabesh-Gilead requested seven (7) days to think about it, and they returned to Saul with the perplexing issue in hand.

When Saul learns of this, the spirit of the Lord comes over him, and he is so furious that he sends portions of his butchered oxen to every tribe in Israel. “Come battle with me or all of your cattle will be chopped up as well,” was the message. Unsurprisingly, Saul gathers a sizable army and concurs with the ammonites.

This brief passage of scripture suggests that at this time, when Israel’s population was scattered and living in many locations, after hearing Saul’s word, they came together. Which benefited them in defeating the Ammonites.

There are three indicators mentioned. When people come together and show unity, salvation, and freedom are found where there is unity and oneness. Second, joy exists, as stated in Philippians 2:2, so make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit, and of one mind. Lastly, the Bible says that unity brings forth peace, as it is said in 3:15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you are called to peace. And be thankful.

Those who seek unity and stability in whatever they do and everyone they come into contact with.

What, then, promotes unity? In Romans 12:16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. So the first thing we must do is fix ourselves by not being proud and not being egotistic about being smarter or having a higher rank but always being compassionate. And when we reach the point where our minds begin to believe that we are nothing in the presence of God, God will grant us oneness and unity.

It’s important to recognize that knowledge alone cannot bring about unity and that people often channel unity via their anger, authority, and material possessions. But that will only last a short time and eventually bring about problems.

Second, one can achieve harmony through God’s dread and fright, which is equivalent to how someone else respects you. It brought unity to Israel, as is evident when the spirit of the Lord descends upon Saul. Therefore, if we are united with God, then others will be able to experience dread and act in accordance with our expectations. Your time with God is significant. You must bear the anointing in all that you think and do until you are filled with his spirit, at which point respect, fear, and unity will remain.

Thirdly, according to the verse in Psalm 127:2, only God is capable of performing this. Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late toiling for food to eat for he grants sleep to[a] those he loves.  Therefore, we must carry and retain the anointing we receive from God. I have given them the glory that you gave me, as God himself declared in John 17:22, that they may be one as we are one(B)—I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me

(A) and have loved them

(B) even as you have loved me.

Thus, unity may come if he stays with us.
