Background
Nehemiah was the cup bearer of the King in a foreign land. One of His brother came and told him, the remnant of Israelites who have gone back to Jerusalem are living in a city where the walls are broken and gates are burned by fire. Nehemiah was broken, he cried, prayed and fasted, he decided to go to king and ask for favor to go and build the city. Before going he made a prayer to the Lord Almighty, King was favorable and people went and built the city with full support of the King. What was the prayer that made all this happen ?
Prayer of Nehemiah
1. Describe the Almighty

O LORD, God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and obey his commands,” Neh 1:5 Meditate and describe the greatness of God, mere description changes the atmosphere around us. Word says Lord dwells in the midst of the praise of His people. Describe then the Lord will dwell in our midst. 2.Confession

.. I confess the sins we Israelites, including myself and my father’s house, have committed against you. We have acted very wickedly towards you. We have not obeyed the commands, decrees and laws you gave your servant Moses.” Neh 1:6,7 For the floodgates of heaven to open, righteous people should raise their voices, so let us examine and confess our sins with shame and broken heart and take strong commitment to walk Holy by His grace. Have right standing with God. 3. Remember warning

Remember the instruction you gave your servant Moses, saying, ‘If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations,” Neh 1:8 Let us not take grace lightly and remember sins will be punished as Lord is just. Let us tremble when we sin. Let us depend on Holy Spirit to guide and strengthen us and will live with out sin. 4. Remember Promises

but if you return to me and obey my commands, then even if your exiled people are at the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for my Name.’” Neh 1:9 However hopeless is our situation Lord will surely fulfill His promises without fail. Let us just trust in His promises. 5. Remember Deliverance’s

They are your servants and your people, whom you redeemed by your great strength and your mighty hand.” Neh 1:10 Mediate on the hand of the Lord how He pulled us out of miry clay. 6. Make the Request
”
O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give your servant success today by granting him favour in the presence of this man.” Neh 1:11 Let us specifically pray, express precisely what we want.
