Verse:
Now My soul is troubled and distressed, what shall I say? Father, save Me from this hour [of trial an agony]? John 12:28)
Thought:
Jesus knew the purpose of His coming into this world. That He had to die on the cross for our sins. But one week before when Jesus thought, on the cross He will not have the fellowship with His Father in Heaven. He was really distressed.
That’s why we see in the garden Jesus praying, “My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death” Mark 14:34. Pain of the father leaving Him on the cross for three hours “when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour” Mark 15:33. Without God the Father Jesus broke down and cried loud “My God. My God, why hast thou forsaken me?” Mark 15:34.
How to be in distress?
Confess, your Distress: But Jesus never grumbled or complained. He said the truth that He was in distress and agony.
Do not grumble: Jesus said what say I say? When words of pain and complains come to you be quiet. “Be still and know I am the Lord ” Ps 46:10
Do wait but ask: Most of us just meditate and think than asking. Here Jesus said “Save Me from this hour”. Speak out your trials.
Pour out in Prayer: In the garden Jesus prayed and the pain was so much that blood came out of His forehead. Pour out your pain only to Jesus; Let the world not see it.
Prayer:
In my distress I want to be like Jesus. Amen.
