Verse:
“Returned to Jerusalem with great joy” Luke 24:52
Thought:
Jesus was crucified and on the third day He rose from dead. And He showed himself to more than 500 people (1Cor 15:6) and He was there with His disciples for 40 days (Acts 1:3). At the end of forty days in front of His disciples He ascended to Heaven from Mount Olives, promising two things.
1. Luke 24:49 “I send the promise of my Father upon you “ Jesus kept encouraging His disciples, do not worry, the Holy Spirit (the third person of trinity) will come and anoint you. This happened in Acts 2. Did you receive your anointing? 2. Acts 1:11 “Same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven”. Jesus will come soon to take us to the place He prepared, where there will be no sickness and suffering, it will be full of joy.
Joy was the result of the Hope they had in these two promises, when they were joyful, both the promises were yet to be fulfilled. Do you have your trust in the Hope you have through the word?
Prayer:
Lord, help me to live and claim the word and to believe and trust in it. Praise you for the promises. Amen.
