Thought
Solomon who wrote three books and two Psalms in the Bible, the one who Lord blessed with the most wisdom, whose kingdom never lost a battle, whose kingdom had all riches, who built the first temple slipped, here it says Lord was angry at him because Solomon heart turned away from God, How did Solomon’s heart go away from God? Remember Solomon slipped only when he was old, three reason for the failures
Love for the World: Solomon loved foreign women, although he knew it was wrong, he kept doing the same mistake. 1 Kings 11:2b “Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love.” Small secret sins will lead to our destruction; do we love anything more than our Lord?
Lack of Devotion: 1 Kings 11:4 “As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the LORD his God..” What is our priority is it our family, work or things of this world. Is our devotion and priority the Lord?
Lack of Obedience: 1 Kings 11:6 “So Solomon did evil in the eyes of the LORD; he did not follow the LORD completely…” Are we following the Lord with all our heart, mind and soul? If not; following our Lord will always be a struggle.
Prayer
Lord, help me Lord, so that I will walk in your ways, keep your commands and will always do things that are right in your eyes. Amen.
