Verse
Romans 14:23 “everything that does not come from faith is sin”
Thought
One biggest reason for division in Christendom is because of our doctrines. Paul in this whole chapter is talking of differences in doctrine. He has quoted two examples for it, kind of food we eat and of observing of special days. In our times also we have lot of controversial doctrines, style of worship, predestined studies, manifestation of Holy Spirit, end days events, laying of hands and so many. True Gospel if Salvation, Holy Living and Spreading Gospel. Rest all I like to group as doctrines. We all have different doctrines, but how should we conduct ourselves.
Accept
Romans 14:1 “Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters” Some doctrines (for example healing will happen, but a weak brother might not have believed) we might feel we right, but remember to accept the one who is weak with love and not by a judgemental heart.
Consider
Romans 14:3 “The man … must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not ..must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him” Thoughts like why is this person so weak, the attitude of condemn is not from God. Consider others precious, for the Lord makes him stand in His love. Remember we also have many other weakness’ too.
Never Condemn
Romans 14:13 “Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another” Never pass judgement on anyone, for judgement belongs to Almighty. When we do judging is a serious offence against the Lord. Yes if Lord leads we can correct but with the attitude of gentleness and humility.
Keep it to yourself
Romans 14:13 “So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God” Stop speaking of doctrines that cause others to fall. We ourselves know some of our doctrines are too hard for others. Let us praise God for opening the truth and keep it to us. When others need surely they will come in search of us.
