Verse:
“They departed quickly from the sepulcher (tomb) with fear and great joy.” Mathew 28:8
Thought:
We always keep praying Lord take away all my fears. But we forget to fear God, under law people trembled at Lord presence, then surely we with grace should have more reverence as grace is precious than law. “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling”. Philippians 2:12
This fear is not the fear of punishment, not the fear of rejection or not the fear of losing the blessing, but this fear the word says “A wise man fears the Lord and shuns (hates) evil” Prov 14:16. Mary came to know Jesus was alive they went in great Joy and fear, yes we too should live in the joy of deliverance and fear of the almighty, fear of His awesome presence and fear of sinning. Everyone who saw the Lord fell down with their face in the sand in Godly fear (reverence). Do you have the fear of the Lord that is the beginning of wisdom?
Godly Fear drives out Worldly fear.
Prayer:
Lord teaches me to fear you, fill me with the Godly fear that leads to holiness. Amen.
