Through Elijah's life, learn about God
Through Elijah's life, learn about God - Morning Devotion 13 September 2022
2 king 2:11 As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.
From Elijah’s life, we can gain insight into who our God is.
God provides and shows care. We are aware of this since God hid Elijah through a long drought and provided him with water and food through Raven, and when the water ran out, God sent Elijah to Zarephath’s house in order to provide him with all the nourishment he needed, so God was very mindful of Elijah. After that, God even sent angels to wake him up when he was distressed and bring him food, which helped him become so strong he was able to walk for 40 days on that meal. God also came to comfort and console him during this time, so similarly God will take care of us as well, provide for us at just the right time, and will never leave our side.
Jesus is the only God. There are numerous gods that mankind has believed in, but only our god exists. Jesus is our Lord, and we must accept that. We must never ignore or reject that fact.
God hears and is attentive. God hears us when we speak to him. Every mother recognizes the voice of her child similarly to how we say that our God hears. Whatever we think in our hearts, whether it be a voice of joy, yearning, crying, or anything else, is heard by our God. Therefore, God is aware of every aspect of us, including our voice.
This planet is temporary. Death is the end of every human. We may pass away due to old age, an illness, like Elijah, or other causes. Elijah’s life teaches us that our time on earth is impermanent. Some people don’t realize it, and they love the earth very much. We should avoid doing so, and instead, we should get ready for God’s return.
